In 1982, Lee earned a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from East Carolina University. Throughout Lee’s work experience, he has gained experience in systems testing, production planning, scheduling, and purchasing. As the General Manager of Surtronics Lee Bradshaw’s past work experience is invaluable. While working for Sony/Ericsson as a Global Commodity Manager, Lee was responsible for the design and production sourcing of all connectors, switches, keypads, and other products related to internal components in mobile phones. Lee truly understands the needs of the customer because he was a Surtronics customer. By initiating movements towards 5S and lean manufacturing, Lee continues to improve upon established quality and first-rate on-time delivery.

Mike joined Surtronics in 1982 as an operator on the Zinc and Cadmiun lines. Throughout 9 years of work on the floor, Mike learned firsthand how to operate and manage each plating department in Surtronics. Mike was promoted to Assistant Quality Manager / Customer Service in 1988 and in 1991 was promoted again to Quality Manager. Over the course of 28 years, Mike has developed strong relationships with Surtronics’ customers by striving for excellence and continually seeking knowledge. Early on in his career Mike earned certifications in Electroless Nickel and Zinc. In 2003, he earned ISO 9000 certification from North Carolina State University and he continues coursework in Lean Manufacturing.

Rick Derrenbacher

After graduating from Appalachian State with a Bachelors of Science in Communications, Rick began working as an operator on the Cadmium line, Gold line, and Tin line. Next, Rick moved into the front office where he excelled in Customer Service for over 14 years. While working in Outside Sales Rick developed relationships with new customers and assisted current customers. Currently, Rick is the Inspection and Shipping Manager. On a daily basis, he conducts inspections on parts to ensure the operator has followed the proper plating procedure and meets Surtronics high standards of quality. Additionally, Rick generates shipping paperwork and organizes over 1,400 shipments a month with a 99.99% success rate.

Elizabeth Vander Gast graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. Prior to Surtronics, Elizabeth’s career afforded her extensive experience in sales, management, marketing, client services, and underwriting. In September of 2009 Elizabeth joined Surtronics as the Accounting and Business Manager. In addition to accounting and payroll functions, Elizabeth manages employee benefits, property and casualty insurance and various areas of human resources. Elizabeth has attained several esteemed designations: CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter), ARM (Associate in Risk Management), and AFSB (Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding).

Ray Lane began his career at Surtronics in 1993. With a total of 17 years of service, Ray has become a leading expert in his field. Originally, Ray worked in the shop and became proficient in each plating department at Surtronics. As a Team Leader and Building Leader, he organized job scheduling, expediting, and part inspections. For the past 10 years, Ray has held a Customer Service position in the front office. Upon promotion to Customer Service Manager, Ray primarily handles invoicing, assists in accounts receivable, manages customer issues, and job quotes. Ray’s extensive firsthand knowledge provides our customers with “one phone call answers”.

In 2004 Tai graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Criminal justice from the University of Tennessee. Before Surtronics, Tai worked as a Project Manager in the Consumer Department of RQA, Inc organizing worldwide retrievals of consumer products, audits, and quality effectiveness checks. In June of 2010, Tai began working at Surtronics in Customer Service and heading the implementation of a new software program.

After spending several years abroad Cliff began a career in the Army stationed in Germany. Upon his return to the United States in 1988, Cliff began working at Surtronics as an operator in the tin department. Through the years Cliff has held numerous positions at Surtronics, including: an operator in various departments, Night Shift Supervisor, Waste Water Operator, Safety Manager, Outside Sales, Production Manager, and Purchasing Manager. Cliff’s comprehensive background has afforded him a working knowledge of nearly every plating department. In addition to on the job experience, Cliff has extensive training in North Carolina Labor Laws, and has participated in Certified Electroplating Courses, Sandler Training and Negotiating, and Internal Auditor Training.

Amanda graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and a minor in Economics with a concentration in Forensics. As an intern at North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations in 2008, Amanda worked in the Drug Chemistry Division performing drug analysis. In 2009 she began working at Surtronics as a Laboratory Technologist. On a daily basis Amanda checks tank concentrations making sure they are within correct specifications by using titrations and atomic absorption spectrometry. Additionally, Amanda conducts quality testing on all Anodize lines

James Blue started his career at Surtronics in 1994 at the age of 19 working the night shift as an operator’s assistant. Over the course of 16 years James has unquestionably learned the business of anodizing and electroplating from the ground up. In 2002, while continuing work at Surtronics, James graduated from Madison University with a Bachelors in Political Science. From there he went on to attain an Associates in Criminal Justice and a Paralegal certificate. After a promotion to Environmental Technician he earned certifications in Wastewater Treatment, Hazardous Materials Shipping & Handling, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). James ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations through extensively monitoring waste inspections, water quality, and laboratory inspections.

Pedro first began working at Surtronics in the late 1997 on the Eaton Block line. Since that time he has moved into Receiving. Over 13 years of field experience aids Pedro daily and provides him a basis to continually exhibit knowledge of customer parts and products. Pedro’s attention to detail and organizational skills are unparalleled, allowing him to complete job processing efficiently.

Before starting at Surtronics in 1982, Steve worked as a plumber gaining valuable experience that aids his work at Surtronics. Steve began as an assistant in the Maintenance department and eventually was promoted to Head Maintenance Engineer. Throughout his 28 years Steve has learned the importance of multitasking and prioritizing jobs according to safety issues. Steve orchestrates and executes repairs on all equipment, places an emphasis on preventative maintenance, oversees new equipment installations, and organizes all fabrications, welding, and plumbing. In addition to the extensive aforementioned list, Steve is currently seeking a diploma in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

With over 20 years of service to Surtronics, Kevin has a vast wealth of experience and firsthand knowledge. Kevin has held different positions at Surtronics ranging from Operator to Quality Inspector and currently Maintenance Engineer. Kevin specializes in conducting and overseeing all electrical repairs. In addition to electrical repairs, Kevin focuses on preventative maintenance, fabricates specialized equipment for Surtronics unique needs, and launches new equipment installations.
